Born and raised in the Gowanus Houses, Bishop Evans has grown to become chaplain to the neighborhood. Through his work in both the school system and local church, Evans has been a positive influence, support and encouragement, providing practical and spiritual guidance to many young people in the community. Evans active and long-standing presence in the lives of residents has provided him the opportunity to be there through the highs of weddings and lows of funerals, touching and blessing many families through the years.
