Tanja Richardson is a mover and shaker. In her childhood, Tanja was surrounded by community meetings through her late father, Walter Richardson, a community activist and director of Brownsville Neighborhood Youth Corporation, and icons such as Shirley Chisholm, Sonny Carson, and Major Owens. She was always a leader and organizer in school; her involvement in community projects has translated to adulthood.

She has undertaken many leadership positions, like being the chairperson for the Drug Elimination Program and Children’s Daycare Family and the recording secretary of the Resident Association under Breukelen Housing (NYCHA). She was a parent coordinator for two youth football leagues, the Canarsie Conquerors and the Brooklyn Chiefs. She moved to Downtown Brooklyn and joined CB2 and the Health Environmental Social Services Committee. Tanja joined BRIC, where she co-founded the ICAC, a team of NYCHA residents who create art programs for the Downtown Brooklyn community. She has made portraits like “Brother James,” a tribute to community hero James Roberts.

Tanja is an entrepreneur. She runs a candle-making business and recently released her Women of Strength collection. Tanja is also the owner and CEO of Class Act Entertainment 2, an event-planning company where she beautifies spaces. She’s purposeful in her creativity; her hobbies include poetry (she’s the co-producer of the Wordsmith Poetry showcase), writing, hip-hop, and art. Whether organizing fundraisers and food drives or pursuing creative endeavors, Tanja has been involved in different projects and continues giving back to her community.

Tanja Richardson es una persona activa y efectiva en la comunidad. En su infancia, Tanja estaba rodeada de reuniones comunitarias a través de su difunto padre, Walter Richardson, activista comunitario y director de Brownsville Neighborhood Youth Corporation, e iconos como Shirley Chisholm, Sonny Carson y Major Owens.
